The purpose of this article is to determine regulations concerning the acquisition of real estate in the light of the treaty establishing the European Community. The acquisition of real estate was taken under particular consideration from the perspective of the freedom of the common market.

The paper attempts to answer the question, whether the processes of constructing identity in modern and post-modern times are similar or rather different. Modern society, in contrary to traditional (primitive, simple, pre-industrial) society, ruptures with collective and universal values that influenced human life and his identity. Since that moment, a man is no more strongly involved in social ties; modernity and post-modernity give him unquestionable autonomy in which individualism is the key-value. Therefore, accordingly to the new reality and new social (philosophical) conditions, the human identity is constructed. What are the rules of this process? Are the modernism and post-modernism two separate epochs and two separate realities that construct different cultural frames in which the process of building the identity and the identity itself take specific (opposite) directions? Or rather, as some sociologists prove (e.g. Anthony Giddens), post-modernism brings indeed the new quality of life but should be understood just as the continuation – strengthened form of the previous – modern stage of society? The attempt to answer the question, by presenting main scientific assumptions about subject matter, has been undertaken in this paper.

The nature of political doctrines engender that there is not one, undisputed definition of conservatism. The paper describes similarities and differences between two famous conservatists, Edmund Burke (1729-1797) and Benjamin Disraeli (1804-1881). First of them is often called the creator of British conservatism. Burke expressed his ideas in the period of the French Revolution. Because of his fear of the collapse of civilization, he do not believe in any positive effects of modernization. Disraeli shared many of Burke’s ideas, but his conservatism includes vision of some kind of social change. He do believe in possibilities of active government policy in this area, and it was surely result of romantic roots of his doctrine. Disraeli’s coservatsim, in the comparison of Burke’s, was more optimistic.

The main aim of the study was to analyze the impact of inflation on the economic growth in Poland in the period from 1991 to 2009. In the paper, methods based on the literature study of international economics and international finance as well as econometric methods (Vector Autoregression Model - VAR) were used. All statistics used in the paper came from the statistical base EconStats. On the basis of the analysis of the relationship between inflation and the economic growth in Poland in the period from 1991 to 2009 you can point to several key conclusions. Firstly, relationship between the inflation rate and the dynamics of real GDP in Poland was relatively important in this period. Moreover, on the basis of VAR model estimates, a negative influence of inflation on the economic growth in Poland over considered period was confirmed. The results also revealed that changes in the inflation rate accounted for 0.5% variability of the growth rate of real GDP in Poland after a year from the shock. Moreover, the existence of non-linear relationship between inflation and economic growth in Poland was confirmed and two threshold levels of inflation amounted to 2.49% and 11.8% were estimated.

The article contains an overview of the origin and evolution of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization from its foundation as the Shanghai Five in 1996 to its growing international importance in 2009. Information enclosed in the text depicts the economic, political and military cooperations between organization’s members and neighbouring countries as well as SCO and the world’s greatest power. Furthermore, the article revolves around SCO’s nearest future in the geopolitical arena.

Knyszyńska Forest Area in recent years is of great interest tourists. This is due to the convenient location adjacent to the agglomeration of Bialystok and the wealth of natural and anthropogenic area. One of the main factors attracting tourists as well as providing them with adequate conditions for relaxation is the development of tourism. Adequate infrastructure is an essential building block to the attractiveness of space tourism, as well as a stabilizing factor and regulating the tourism. The purpose of this study is to analyze the state of development of tourism – recreation area Knyszyńska Forest and evaluation standards and quality of tourism infrastructure. The main research method was a diagnostic survey carried out using the questionnaire technique.

More than 650 million people worldwide suffer from various disabilities, which represents 10% of the total population. In Poland there are about 4,5 million people with various disabilities which represent 13% of the total population. The upward trend in the number of disabled people in Poland, while increasing the demand for tourist services, obliges the tourist industry to pay greater attention to the tourist audience. The purpose of this article is to analyze and assess tourism development for the needs of people with disabilities, with particular emphasis on Podlaskie region. The main research method was a diagnostic survey carried out with the use of the questionnaire technique.

In the article, the author describes the problems concerning active tourism on the example of Białowieza Primeval Forest micro-region. The first part of the article explains problems connected with the development of the tourist region for the purposes of active tourism. The legal acts regulating which institutions are responsible for outlining, marking and keeping tourist trails safe are discussed in detail. The empirical part presents the development of Białowieża Primeval Forest for the purposes of active tourism on the basis of the research conducted in 2006. The article includes conclusions.

The article introduces the idea of scenic road corridors as linear tourism products, which, in the system, create the network product of tourism destinations. The National Scenic Byways Program became reviewed, as example of the organizational success of the creating of scenic byways system in U.S.A. Then, the author talked over conditionings of development of the idea of scenic road corridors in Poland. In the result, three basic barriers for development of such linear tourism products in Poland became defined: the lack of legislative formulas, which in detail and univocally would define rules and criteria of assigning of linear tourism products to the category of scenic byways (or to the category of thematic routes existing already), the slight of byways importance for the spatial planning, particularly for protection and promotion of the landscape and of the cultural and natural heritage, the small activity of public organizations, which act in the interest of the local socioeconomical development.

The paper presents the quality of animal products and their application in agritourist farms. The researches show that visitors highly appreciate quality products which are produced by ecological methods. The offer of high quality products such as milk, meat and eggs obtained in unpolluted, ecological conditions of agritourist farms may comprise an additional attraction for many visitors.

The purpose of this work is an analysis of temperature changes on the body surface of a person practicing recreational archery, as well as the standardization of the method of such an evaluation. Therma CAM P 10 thermo vision camera manufactured by FLIR Systems AB (Germany) was used to perform the tests. Tests were done for a 175 cm tall right-handed woman, with the body weight of 60 kg. The performed tests are a pilot study and according to the Authors’ knowledge the first such examinations carried out in Poland on people practicing archery.

During the economic downturn the real estate market was ruled by clients in a much greater extent than previously. For them, one of the most important criteria for buying a flat has become the total price, and therefore they started looking for apartments smaller than the size of the property in times of boom. The need to sell flats already built by developers forced the focus on the customer and offered him additional benefit resulting from the purchase. Maintaining this type of situation in the long term will certainly eliminate the weakest companies from the market development, while those who continue, will force them to further enhancement of attractiveness and adapt it to the real needs and customer abilities. The aim of this paper is to present key findings on the sources of competitive advantage and build the instruments of the competition used by developing companies during the slowdown of economic growth.
